Your privacy matters
Your journal is personal, and we treat it that way. We collect only what the app needs, we never sell your data, and your journal content is never used for advertising.
Information you provide
- Account: your email, plus a name and photo if you add one (or share them by signing in with Apple or Google).
- Your content: the entries, prayers, recordings, drawings, and photos you create, stored on your device and synced to your private account.
- Support messages: anything you send us.
Permissions
Microphone, camera, photos, location, and notifications are used only after you allow them, and only for the feature you're using. Location is optional and never collected in the background.
AI features
Optional AI features help with things like voice journaling, prayer, covers, handwriting, and search. Only what you give a feature is sent, the app asks first, and you can turn AI off anytime in Profile → Privacy. Everything else keeps working.
Some AI features are powered by trusted third-party providers, including OpenAI, ElevenLabs, and Google.
Providers process your content only to return the result. It is not used to train their models, requests carry no account identifier, and where possible tagged names are hidden before anything is sent. Your other entries, photo library, location, and contacts are never shared with them.
Analytics & diagnostics
We collect usage and crash data to improve the app, and process a device identifier when you open a shared link so it takes you to the right place.
Subscriptions
Premium purchases are processed by Apple or Google; we never see your full payment details, only your subscription status so we can unlock Premium for you.
How we use your data
To provide and sync your journal, deliver the features you use, manage your subscription, improve the app, and send updates you've asked for. Nothing else. We do not sell your data or share it with advertisers.
Third-party services
A small number of trusted providers help us run Bible J: cloud infrastructure, AI processing, subscriptions, analytics, link routing, and optional place lookup. Each is bound by a data-processing agreement.
Data retention & security
We keep your data while your account is active. Data is encrypted in transit, and we review our security practices regularly.
Your rights & choices
- Delete your account anytime in Profile → Delete account. Deletion is permanent.
- Export your journals whenever you like.
- Revoke permissions in your device settings.
- Manage your subscription in your Apple or Google account.
International users
Bible J is operated from the United States. If you use it elsewhere, your information may be processed in the U.S. and other countries, with appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) where required.
Your rights in the EEA & UK (GDPR)
You can access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing of your personal data, and take it with you. We process data to provide the app (contract), with your consent (optional permissions and AI features), and in our legitimate interest (securing and improving the app). You can withdraw consent anytime and complain to your local supervisory authority. Contact us to exercise any of these rights.
Your California privacy rights (CCPA/CPRA)
You can know, access, correct, and delete the personal information we hold, without discrimination. We do not sell or share your personal information as defined under California law. Contact us to make a request.
Age and younger users
Bible J is for people 13 and older (or your country's minimum digital age). A one-time age check confirms this: on iOS 26 and later, Apple's Declared Age Range can share only whether you meet the threshold, never your birth date; on other devices, you confirm it yourself.
We store only the outcome of that check, never your birth date or exact age, and delete it with your account. Age information is never used for advertising. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, please contact us and we will investigate and delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time and will notify you of significant changes by email or in the app.
