Getting Started

Welcome to Bible Journal! This guide will help you get up and running quickly.

First Steps

After downloading Bible Journal, you'll be greeted with a simple onboarding flow:

  • Choose your mode – Start with local-only storage, or sign up for cloud sync
  • Set your preferences – Pick your preferred Bible translation and theme
  • Create your first entry – Jump right in with a journal entry

Creating a Journal Entry

Bible Journal supports three types of entries:

  • Dream – For recording dreams, visions, and subconscious thoughts
  • Prayer – For prayers, petitions, and conversations with God
  • Reflect – For general reflections, study notes, and observations
To create a new entry:
  • Tap the + button in the bottom navigation
  • Choose your entry type
  • Start writing!

Adding Verses

Scripture is always close at hand. To add a verse to your entry:

  • Tap the verse icon in the toolbar
  • Search by reference (e.g., "John 3:16") or keyword
  • Tap the verse to insert it
Verses appear as blocks that you can tap to see full context and compare translations.

StudyCanvas

For visual Bible study, try StudyCanvas:

  • Draw connections between verses and ideas
  • Highlight themes with different colors
  • Add notes anywhere on the canvas
  • Export your canvas as an image or PDF

cinq Check-ins

cinq (five) is our five-minute daily check-in feature:

  • Answer a simple prompt each day
  • Track your spiritual health over time
  • No streaks or guilt – skip whenever you need to

Tips for Getting Started

  • Start small – Even a sentence counts
  • Use voice notes – Record thoughts on the go
  • Tag entries – Makes finding things easier later
  • Export regularly – Keep backups of what matters
